Age: It is not clear what the effect of aging is on male fertility. However, evidence of late suggests that it may be a factor (although not to the degree that it is in women). This evidence shows that age-related sperm changes in men is a gradual process. Aging can adversely affect sperm counts and sperm’s ability to swim quickly and move in a straight line.

Bicycling has been linked to impotence in men and also may affect fertility. Pressure from the bike seat may damage blood vessels and nerves that are responsible for erections.

Certain cancers and their treatments, especially testicular cancer, hinder sperm production, often severely. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation can damage sperm quality and quantity, causing infertility.

Defective Genetic Material: Sperm carry half the genetic material necessary to make a human being. Infertile men have been reported to have a relatively high percentage of sperm with broken or damaged DNA.

Environmental Assaults: Exposure to toxins, chemicals, or infections may reduce sperm count either by direct effects on testicular function or by altering hormone systems, although the extent of the impact and specific environmental assaults involved are questionable. Some experts believe it is contributing to a general worldwide decline in male fertility.

Excessive Exercise has been associated with reduced sperm production.

Fertilizing a woman’s egg must be achieved in order to get his partner pregnant. Therefore, a man must be able to deliver healthy sperm into the vagina. Sperm must be properly shaped and able to move toward the egg for fertilization to occur. If the shape and structure (morphology) of the sperm are abnormal or the movement (motility) is impaired, sperm may not be able to reach or penetrate the egg.

Glandular Infections in the Urinary Tract or Genitals: Glandular infections that may affect fertility include prostatitis (in the prostate gland), orchitis (in the testicle), semino-vesculitis (in the glands that produce semen), or urethritis (in the urethra), possibly by altering sperm motility.

Heavy Substance Abuse: Cocaine or heavy marijuana use appears to temporarily reduce the number and quality of sperm by as much as 50%. Sperm have receptors for certain compounds in marijuana that may affect the sperm’s ability to swim and also keep them from penetrating the egg. Very heavy alcohol use can also affect fertility.

Impotence: (Erectile Dysfunction) is when a man has problems getting or maintaining an erection long enough for sex. It happens when not enough blood flows to the penis.

Inherited Disorders that Affect Fertility: Certain inherited disorders can impair fertility such as Cystic fibrosis, Klinefelter syndrome, Kartagener syndrome and Polycystic kidney disease.
Jumpstart Fertility by acquiring healthy habits. Eat healthy. Exercise moderately and abstain from heavy substance abuse.
Kidney or liver failure, chronic anemia, diabetes HIV, thyroid disease, Cushing syndrome, heart attack, or any severe injury or major surgery are medical conditions that can affect male fertility.

Low Sperm Count: There has to be enough sperm in the semen to make pregnancy likely. A normal sperm concentration is greater than or equal to 20 million sperm per milliliter of semen. A count of 10 million or fewer sperm per milliliter of semen indicates low sperm concentration.

Lubricants used with condoms, including spermicides, oils, and Vaseline, can affect fertility. Astroglide, Replens, or mineral oil may not be as harmful to sperm. However, oil-based lubricants can damage latex condoms and should be avoided.

Medications: The effects of medications on sperm quality and count have not been studied in depth, and many medicines are commonly prescribed without knowing whether they impair fertility. Anabolic steroids (which have been overly abused by weight lifters and other athletes) deserve special attention because they are known to severely harm sperm production. Among the other drugs that can affect male fertility are cimetidine (Tagamet), sulfasalazine (Azulfidine), salazopyrine, colchicine, methadone, methotrexate (Folex), phenytoin (Dilantin), corticosteroids, spironolactone (Aldactone), thioridazine (Mellaril), and calcium channel blockers.

Mumps: When mumps develop after puberty, it damages the testicles in 25% of men afflicted with the disease.

Mycoplasma is an infectious organism that appears to fasten itself to sperm cells and render them less motile.

No semen (ejaculate). The absence of ejaculate may occur in men with spinal cord injuries or diseases. This fluid carries the sperm from the penis into the vagina.

Obesity may be a risk factor for male infertility. A 2006 epidemiological study found that a 20-pound increase in a man’s weight increased the chance for infertility by about 10 percent.

Premature ejaculation can occasionally make fertilization difficult or impossible for couples who are trying to become pregnant.

Question your doctor: When a couple has failed to conceive after one year of well-timed intercourse, they should seek expert care. In cases where the woman is older than age 35, treatment should be sought after six months of well-timed intercourse.

Repeated Chlamydia trachomatis or gonorrhea infections are most often associated with male infertility. Such infections can cause scarring and block sperm passage. Human papilloma viruses, the cause of genital warts, may also impair sperm function.

Smoking impairs sperm motility, reduces sperm lifespan, and may cause genetic changes that affect the offspring.

Stress may interfere with the hormone GnRH and reduce sperm counts.

Testicular Overheating: High fevers, saunas, and hot tubs, may temporarily lower sperm count. Persistent exposure to high temperatures during work may impair fertility.

Undescended testicle: The testicles make male hormones and sperm. Usually both testicles are inside the scrotum. While male babies are still growing inside the uterus, their testicles are inside their abdomen. The testicles usually move down into the scrotum just before or just after birth. An undescended testicle is one that did not move down into the scrotum.

Varicocele: This is when the veins in the scrotum become enlarged, twisted or swollen (similar to varicose veins in the leg). This heats the inside of the scrotum and may affect sperm production.

Wearing tight-fitting pants and underwear. According to a study on “Tight-fitting Underwear and Sperm Quality” published June 29, 1996, in the scientific journal The Lancet. Tight-fitting underwear is not recommended for men trying to father a child because it may raise testes temperature to a point where it interferes with sperm production.

X Chromosomes play a role in some forms of male infertility that result from low sperm counts. Scientists have found that almost half the genes related to sperm production reside in the X chromosome, universally thought of as the female sex chromosome. Many genes for early male sperm production reside on the X Chromosome.

Your loss of libido (reduced or lost interest in sex) can also be a factor in male infertility.

Zinc, folate, selenium, vitamins C & E deficiencies in men may be particular risk factors for infertility.

This is what she put as her status update this morning on Facebook: "oMg, i wAnNa bE a mOmMy sOoOoOoOo bAd!"

Yeah, let her take care of a baby for twenty four hours and then see what she thinks of that idea

I already have a son. He is 10 years old. After he was born I started taking birth control pills for 8 years. My husband and I decided we would try to conceive again. I asked my doctor how long does it usually take for a woman to get pregnant after she is off of the pill. He said it would probably take about 3 months. We haven’t been very successful.

See a fertility specialist. The recommended time of TTC is 2 years before consulting a specialist, so you’re right on schedule!

I have been trying to get pregnant for 6 months, I have seen a doctor because I wasn’t ovulating, he gave me medication, still nothing. I did everything. My periods are not regular. I have a 13 year old, but I want to have a baby with my boyfriend so bad, I am desparate to get pregnant.
Could having 2 abortions, be the cause me not being able to conceive anymore?
Please help I am desparate.

I dont think the abortions had to do with it or it could. I know a girl who has had like 5 abortions and keeps getting pregnant still. It just depends on your body honestly. try taking your tempeture daily and the days where its a little high is when you should be ovulating also you can try those ovulation watches or something! If not maybe its not your time sorry to say!
I have two kids and had them unplanned the ol naturla way!

I pug seems to only want to have sex with my cat. The pug is not nutered and the cat isn’t spayed. I am worried this will affect my cat mentally or worse, she may get pregnant. Any advice?

Don’t make such a big deal over it. The more you try and keep them apart the more they will sneak behind your back, then you’ll really have a problem on your hands. Just leave them be and think about how famous you could be selling the first pug/tabby mix. Pabby or Tuggy. I got 40% of earnings since I coined the names. Everyone here is a witness.

Me and my bf. Had sex on da day before my period and he enjaculated in me twice could I be or get pregnant and wats da high percentage I might could be pregnant

You can get pregnant at any point and time if you have unprotected sex. If you don’t know this, you shouldn’t even be allowed to have sex. Do you even know if you’re doing it right?

Infertility is defined as a male’s or female’s inability or reduced biological ability to contribute to the conception of a child.  More commonly, it is defined as the inability to become pregnant after 12 months of intercourse without birth control.  Infertility may also refer to a woman’s inability to carry a pregnancy to full term.

Infertility affects about 1 in every of couples in their reproductive age.  In the US, approx. 7% of married couples in which the woman was of reproductive age (2.1 million) reported they were not able to get pregnant after trying for one year (2002 National Survey of Family Growth).

In some cases, both the man and woman may be sub-fertile.  In other cases, each partner is each fertile but the couple cannot conceive together without assistance.  In approx. 1/3rd of the cases, the male is infertile, in 1/3rd the female is infertile, and in 1/3rd, it can be either one of them, or the cause is unknown.  In about 15% of cases, investigation will show no abnormalities which can be detected by current methods.

Egg quality is also of critical importance, especially for women of advanced maternal age.  Or it may be a question of the egg not being released at the optimum time for fertilization, or the sperm not being able to reach the egg, or fertilization may fail to occur.

If you are trying to get pregnant, and are considering a fertility treatment, don’t opt immediately for the most advanced and expensive Fertility Treatments, such as IVF, thinking you’ll get pregnant faster.

You have a number of Fertility Treatments available, which include:  fertility drugs, surgery, IVF, GIFT, ZIFT, donor eggs, and surrogacy.  In 85% to 95% of cases, Infertility can be treated with conventional Fertility Treatments, such as drug treatment.  These solutions are more affordable and less invasive than some of the other options.

Here’s an overview of your Fertility Treatment options, ranked from the least to the most invasive:

Fertility drugs:  These drugs can help get a female’s or males reproductive system and hormones in balance.

Artificial Insemination:  Sometimes the male’s sperm needs help getting to the female’s egg.  Placing a dose of sperm in your uterus at the proper time will improve one’s chances of getting pregnant.

Surgery:  Some women have blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, fibroids, or ovarian cysts, or genetic defects.  A minor surgery, performed with a laparoscope (a fiber-thin tube) can help diagnose the problem.  However, more extensive surgery may be required.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART):  ART can involve the hi-tech In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), or in rarer cases, GIFT or ZIFT.  In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a major treatment in infertility when other methods of ART have failed.  It involves surgically removing eggs (ova) from a woman’s ovaries, fertilizing them with sperm in the laboratory, and returning them to the woman’s body.  Both Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer and Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer are ART procedures, which involve removing the woman’s eggs, mixing them with the male’s sperm , and implanting them in the woman’s Fallopian tubes.  With ZIFT, fertilization takes place outside the body, and with GIFT, fertilization takes place inside the body.  Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a procedure in which a single sperm (especially donor sperm) is injected directly into an egg.

Egg Donation:  Occasionally, a woman may require to use a egg donor, depending on her age, and egg quality.

Chantix is probably the most effective anti-smoking medicine in our days. If you want to know why it is quoted as one of the most effective drug, all you have to do is to read the below frequently asked questions and the answers to them.

What is Chantix?
Chantix is an anti-smoking drug specialized in changing the behavior of the individual and in stopping the cravings of the body related to tobacco addictiveness. Unlike other drugs, Chantix is a non-nicotine medicine available with prescription. How it actually works? Well it’s simple. Your brain has cells as receptors for nicotine. When you smoke these cells send messages to a different part of the brain that will give you a feeling of pleasure. This pleasure does not last so you need to smoke more to be satisfied. And so it begins a vicious cycle. Chantix is sending messages to your brain just like if you were smoking and so you will not feel the need to smoke anymore. This will help you to deal with the cravings and it will become a lot easier for you to quit smoking.

Is it required a prescription?
Yes. But don’t worry, by now over 6 million people only in the U.S. have already been prescribed Chantix. Chantix is a class of drug that needs prescription. All you have to do to get the prescription is to talk to your doctor. If you don’t suffer from major health problems or diseases you will probably get the prescription from your doctor without any problems. If you suffer from heart conditions or kidney problems you are not eligible for taking Chantix. Also, not eligible for taking this drug are pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, persons under 18 year old and senior citizens.

Should I change my diet during the administration of Chantix?
There shouldn’t be any restricted group of food or any aliment that you cannot eat during the administration of Chantix. However, if your doctor says something else about this you should listen to him. Your doctor will also prescribe you the right dosage for you and with what frequency you should take the drug.

Who else can I talk to about Chantix?
As always, when talking about drugs, the second expert, after the doctor, is the pharmacist. He can give you a good overview about Chantix, about the side effects that may occur and any other information you might be interested in. Feel free to ask anything. They are there to help us in the best way they can.

How to take Chantix for great and fast results?
Chantix should be taken after eating and with a full glass of water. The medicine is to be administered for 12 weeks. These first 12 week are for testing purposes only. If you don’t feel improvements during this period, the drug might not work for you. If it appears to be working in your case, the treatment will be continued for another 12 weeks. Some doctors prescribe the drug for 52 weeks so that the effect of the medicine more intense.

I’m 17. and my recent question on here was Am I Pregnant? Or Just Paranoid And Fat!? So If You Feel Up To It please answer that question i need to know as much as i can! ive been looking on different websites about the bloating situation because ive been constantly bloated for the past 3 weeks and no matter how many fast melts i take my stomach doesnt un bloat! and i never get bloated! on a website it said that Week 5 in pregnancy in actually 2-3 weeks after ovulating which if i am actually pregnant i should be 5 weeks preg. so my question is does the bloating go away eventually? or does it just stay the way it is until my belly grows with the growth of the baby?? and to be honest i would be really gratefull if someone could tell me which pregnancy tests ar best to get cheap and cheerfull would be great because to be honest im broke!! and which pregnancy tests are good quality that would give me the true results??

Bloating is definitely a pregnancy sign. If you are 5 weeks pregnant, just about any test would detect HCG (the pregnancy hormone) in your urine. I got a positive pregnancy test with a Walmart brand pregnancy test when I was only 4 weeks pregnant. Also, you can order them online at www.anotherblessing.com. They cost $0.85 apiece and have free shipping. Good luck! :)
