Vitamins are organic substances necessary in very small amounts to direct different processes within living cells. Even though vitamins offer no energy benefits to the body directly, they do help set free the energy stored in carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Thus, most vitamins help chemical reactions to take place. The human body does not produce most of the vitamins it requires and must obtain them from foods.

When taken as a dietary supplement in the daily diet, they help balance out the deficiencies of improper eating habits, overcooked foods, and non-nutritive processed foods. Vitamins are also critical in the production of red blood cells and the protection of the nervous, skeletal, and immune system.

Humans require 13 essential vitamins.

Four are fat-soluble vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E, and K), and the remaining nine are water-soluble (Vitamins C and the eight B-complex vitamins: thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6, folate, vitamin B-12, biotin, and pantothenic acid).

Solubility refers to how a vitamin is absorbed, transported, and stored in the body. The water-soluble vitamins are absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Extra water-soluble vitamins are removed by the kidneys and excreted in the urine. Fat-soluble vitamins are usually transported in the blood by special proteins and excess gets stored in the fatty tissues of the body rather than excreted.

Some of the vitamins and their benefits are as follows –

Beta-carotene protects against cancer, memory loss and heart disease.

It helps improve vision and fight skin disorders, such as psoriasis and eczema, protect throat, mouth, and lungs from pre-cancerous cells.

It is best to get beta-carotene through dietary sources, as artificial supplementation in high doses is still controversial. Rich dietary sources are yellow, orange and green leafy vegetables.

Biotin is used in the metabolism of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. It also helps in energy production and can to a certain extent help people with diabetes by keep glucose levels reduced. Other benefits include healthy hair, skin, nails, reducing tiredness, heartburn and some allergies.

Folic acid (Vitamin B9) – is an important vitamin for women who are trying to conceive and those already pregnant. It helps to make the heart healthy, increases overall energy level and helps combat

Alzheimer’s disease.

Good sources of folic acid are leafy green vegetables, liver and fruits.

Vitamin A is a very effective antioxidant. It also plays an important role in maintaining healthy vision, keeps the cells of the skin healthy, helps relieve skin disorders, boosts the immune system and helps in early healing of wounds.

Older people should not take vitamin A supplements because they are at risk for vitamin A toxicity.

Vitamin a is found as retinol in milk, butter, cheese, egg yolk, liver and fatty fish; as carotenes in milk, carrots, tomatoes, dark green vegetables.

Vitamin B2 is essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates (to produce energy) and amino acids. It also helps keep mucous membranes (such as those lining the mouth) healthy.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to serious health complications such as nerve damage, weak muscles, depression, memory problem, anaemia, and stunted growth in children. It also helps the formation and regeneration of red blood cells, along with the proper functioning of nerves.

Rich sources are meat, eggs and milk. Almost no plant foods contain B12. Fortified breakfast cereals are a useful source.

Vitamin B1 is necessary for proper metabolism of sugar and starch to provide energy. It helps maintain a healthy nervous system as well as aid in the proper functioning of the heart and other muscles. Stress increases the need for B-1 and all B vitamins.

Cereals, nuts and pulses are rich sources. Green vegetables, fruits and fortified cereals contain this vitamin.

Vitamin C has helps in the production of the protein – collagen, boosts the immune system, protects artery linings, and helps in the prevention of cataracts.

Good dietary sources are citrus fruits, berries, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes.

Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, thereby helping to form and maintain strong bones. Best source is sunlight. Dietary sources include oily fish, egg yolk, fortified breakfast cereals.

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant, which helps in the protection against heart disease, some types of cancers, boosts the immune system, and acts as an aid in the healing of injuries.

Good dietary sources are common vegetable oils and the products made from them,, wheat germ, nuts and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin K is beneficial because it helps in blood clotting and helps to strengthen bones and counter osteoporosis.

Can overdose of vitamins be harmful -

Extra vitamin in the diet can be harmful, especially when taken as supplements. Overdoses of fat-soluble vitamins are particularly dangerous because the excess gets stored in the body, thereby increasing the risk of toxicity. Although all vitamins do not show toxicity nature.

What can vitamin deficiency lead to?

Intake of required vitamins below the recommended levels can have adverse effects on health, even though not low enough to cause a deficiency disease.

If the deficiency is for a persistently long time, then one could develop characteristic deficiency symptoms. For example, vitamin B deficiency can cause anaemia, beriberi. Vitamin A deficiency can cause night blindness.

Low intake of folic acid increases a woman’s chance of delivering a baby with a defective neural tube as well as increased heart disease risk

There are many factors that make the differences between many types of scabies treatments that can be prescribed to the patients: the level of toxicity to the human body, the availability, the terms of efficiency and the price. Those medications can be purchased from pharmacies with a dermatologist’s prescription and along wit their efficiency in killing the scabies mites, they are also cost – effective. Some of the most common names of medications for scabies treatment are: permethrin, lindane, malathion and ivermectin.

The most efficient scabicide medication is known to be the permethrin. Permethrin is a medication found under the forms of gels and creams for external use, whose action is well tolerated by the human organism because of its low toxicity level, element that makes it tolerable and suitable for some particular categories of patients: people with increased sensibilities to other scabies medications or pregnant women. The body absorbs permethrin very fast but only a part of it’s active ingredients will enter the blood stream minimizing thus the risks of retention in the organism. Inappropriate use of permethrin can produce, in rare cases, pruritus and stinging and burning sensations. Those side effects, which are rare, can be eliminated by a correct application of permethrin, which also maximizes its efficiency.

Permethrin is usually applied only twice, with a 5 to 7 days interval. The doctor can, however, recommend a different way of application. The medication must be applied on the entire body not just in the usually affected areas (between the fingers and toes, the regions of the feet, ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, lower abdomen, genitals, buttocks, armpits, and nipples) and should remain on the skin for 12 hours, until washing, just as in the case of other medicines. After the period of 12 hours in which the medicine is considered to have done his job, the permethrin should be washed away with warm water and non – irritant soap. For the very young patients or old patients, just as in the case of those with impaired immune system, the medicine should also be applied on the face, neck, scalp and ears.

Another medicine that is known to be efficient in eradicating scabies is malathion. Cheaper than permethrin and not as effective, malathion can be bought from the pharmacies without a prescription from a dermatologist and it can be found under the forms of creams and lotions. It is recommended to use the water – based forms of malathion because of the side effects that the alcohol – based form can produce.

In the same class of scabicide medications, we find the lindane. It is a very efficient medicine but it has high toxicity to the human body. It produces side effects like skin blistering, stings, soreness or pruritus. This medicine is not recommended pregnant or breast feeding women or to patients with increased sensitivity to one or more of its compounds.

An effective oral medication for the scabies is ivermectin. Only two doses of this medicine can reach the same effects as permethrin. It is recommended to replace permethrin to those patients that don’s respond well to the local use medication. Yet, this medicine is not recommended to young children.

Me and my husband or trying to conceive and have fun! So what is the best position?

MIssionary style worked for us, as well as place a pillow under my butt after intercourse for 15-20 mins. Also….don’t use lubes (water works if you need it) and be sure to hit on and around your most fertile days.

We got pregnant first try and did all of this. Not saying it’s a for sure thing, but it’s what worked for us.

Ive been trying to get pregnant for a long time and no luck after my first child I have had 3 miscarriages, the doctors says everything is fine and normal. but I still don’t understand.

Sounds like you are not having a problem getting pregnant, just maintaining it.

Talk to your doctor about perhaps prescribing some progesterone suppositories to help you maintain the pregnancy. Sometimes your progesterone level is just to low to maintain the pregnancy. If you get past 12 weeks you should be fine, sometimes they will continue to give you the medications past 20 weeks.

Best to talk to your physician. Some doctors just refuse to give you anything to maintain a pregnancy, they think it is okay just to let nature take its course when that does not always have to happen. Ask your doctor how they feel about using the progesterone suppositories. If they don’t want to agressively protect your pregnancy, switch doctors.

Good luck and best wishes.

we found out on Nov 12th after trying for roughly 6 months that i was pregnant, 4 days after that there was a miscarriage ..

After a miscarrage is there a certain time that you should wait before trying again, or anything you can do to improve your chances of it not happening again?

and roughly how long after one can you get pregnant again?

I’ve suffered 6 miscarriages in total & have 3 healthy children.

My last miscarriage was september the 25th & yesterday I got a faint positive on a cheap pregnancy test :-) the longest gap for me between a miscarriage & getting pregnant was 6 months.

Good luck & I’m sorry for your loss xx

I had a d&c and was told to wait two weeks to have sex. However i slipped up and only waited 6 days and have had sex at least 7 times unprotected. I was just wondering what are the chances that i could be pregnant and what are the chances that if i was pregnant i would have a successful pregnancy. However, my period is irregular so does that play a part in anything?i only bled for 3 days, and as far as i can seei have no strange discharge.

You "slipped up" 7 times? That’s not slipping up, that’s gross negligence and complete ignorance.

I would be more worried about infection than pregnancy. There is a good reason they tell you to wait, they don’t do it just to torture you.

If you want a successful pregnancy, then you need to follow doctor’s instructions to the letter and not think that you know better than they do.

If you think you could be pregnant, take a test. And be more responsible in the future, your health and the health of any potential pregnancy depends on your actions.

Before rushing off to an In Vitro Fertilization Clinic if you cannot conceive there are natural ways to increase your chances of having a baby. IVF procedures can be costly and there are no guarantees of success even after repeated attempts by a couple.New studies reveal that stress of today’s lifestyles is causing much of the fertility problems experienced by couples wishing to have a baby. Other research indicates women who have high levels of the hormone cortisol which is linked to stress do not have a menstrual cycle at all.

Foods which are high in anti-oxidants, iron, calcium, zinc and enzymes will greatly increase your chances of fertility. A daily cup of organic blueberries can increase the chances of success as well the natural Goji berry using in traditional chinese medicine can boost your drive better than oysters.

Foods to Improve Fertility: Fruits that are both colorful and high in anti-oxidants such as: red peppers, orange carrots, green salads, mangoes, apples, figs, yams, nuts, salmon, oysters, and carrots improve fertility. High calcium selections for women improve the ability to conceive. Lifestyle and diet improvements are great alternative healthful ways to avoid infertility.

Exercise: Prenatal preparation is enhanced by moderately strengthening the body through exercise. The best method is yoga since it produces melatonin which helps reduce the stress of trying to get pregnant.
Pre -Natal Yoga classes also teach you to strengthen the muscles of the body which are used during giving birth.

Relaxing and meditating on the wonderful bundle of joy that is about to enhance your family also is a powerful effect on getting pregnant. This type of yoga with specific positions strengthens tone and flexibility which increases reproductive health.

What to Avoid for Improved Fertility: Alcohol and caffeine do affect both parents-to-be in decreased chances of fertilization. Plenty of restful sleep, fresh air walks in the sunshine and reduced stress all are goals for all young couples wishing to have a baby.

Acupuncture: Through balancing the body’s energies that may be stuck, a traditional Chinese method of using acupuncture can create the harmony necessary for conception. Balancing the body’s energy levels of the uterus, liver, and reproductive systems is a valued and successful process of creating a baby.

Herbs and Supplements: Dong Quai, Nettle Leaves, Damiania are all herbs that can increase ovulation, balance hormones, adrenal glands and increase the bodies energy levels for conception.

Vitamins: Increasing intake of Vitamin E helps the reproductive glands in their production of key sex hormones in conceiving a baby. Selenium is also being studied for its effects on lower male fertility by the University of Padua in Italy.

Detoxing the Body: All herbal cleansers such as colon, kidney, liver and blood cleansers can have a very positive effect on achieving conception. A sluggish colon which increases the toxin levels can actually prevent fertility.

Herbal Colon Cleanses: and colonics increase blood flow and support the liver to remove more toxins as well as stimulating the gallbladder to release bile.
All these methods result in a cleaner, healthy and safe environment to start manufacturing a baby.

Even after pregnancy occurs detoxing and these techniques is optimal for caring for a healthy bouncing baby the natural way.

Folate is necessary for the production and maintenance of new cells in our body. This is important during the period of fast cell break up especially in pregnancy and child growth. Folate is needed to replicate DNA. Changes to DNA which leads to cancer may also be prevented by folate. Thus folate deficiency hinders DNA synthesis and cell division, affecting mostly the bone marrow. Every human being needs folate which makes normal red blood cells and prevent anemia.

Folic acid is being considered necessary in our food since recent debate has emerged around the globe using the inclusion of folic acid in products such as bread and flour. Experts claim that this will significantly decrease disabilities in babies.

Most adults do not consume adequate folate. However, the folic acid fortification program in many countries has increased folic acid content of commonly eaten foods such as cereals and grains, and as a result diets of most adults now provide recommended amounts of folate equivalents.

Memory and mental agility:
In a 3-year trial on hundreds of people over the age of 50, short-term memory, mental agility and verbal fluency were all found to be better among people who took 800 micrograms of folic acid daily.

Health risk due to consumption of too much folic acid:
The risk of toxicity from folic acid is low. The Institute of Medicine has established a tolerable upper intake level for folate of 1,000 microgram (µg) for adult men and women, and an upper intake level of 800 microgram (µg) for pregnant and breast-feeding women less than 18 years of age. Supplemental folic acid should not exceed the upper intake level to prevent folic acid from masking symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency.

Origin of Folate:
Folic acid and Folate are forms of the water-soluble Vitamin B9. These occur naturally in food and can also be taken as supplements. Folate originates from the Latin word folium or “leaf”.

Sources of Folate:
The rich sources of folate are leafy vegetables such as spinach and turnip greens, dried beans and peas, fortified cereal products, sunflower seeds and certain other fruits and vegetables.

Reference Daily Intake:
The Reference Daily Intake is the average daily dietary intake level that is sufficient to meet the nutrient requirements of nearly all 97 to 98% of healthy individuals. The Reference Daily Intake for folate expressed in micrograms (µg) for adults are:

Men: (19+ years) – 400 µg
Women: (19+ years) – 400 µg
Pregnant women: 600 µg
Breast feeding mothers: 500 µg

1 µg of food folate = 0.6 µg folic acid from supplements and fortified foods.

I want to be get pregnant fast. because my marriage is passed two years i am very feeling about when i am not getting pregnant what is the way to get fast pregnancy any tablets about fast pregnancy

No such tablets, sorry. Try charting at http://www.fertilityfriend.com You only have a 25% chance of conception per month. You can’t get pregnant "fast", altho some women conceive on their first try. Get yourself a basal thermometer, some OPKs, and learn to check your cervical mucus. You can do all this at the site I gave you.
